Several studies have shown that stress and dissatisfaction with the job lead to psychological stress in a person, which in turn has a significant negative impact on other areas of life, including social, personal and family life. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the characteristics of the work environment and psychological stress with regard to the mediating role of the conflict of family and work among employees of the National Bank of Gorgan Branch. The research method is descriptive-survey-correlation type and its statistical population included all 240 staff members of the National Bank of Gorgan Branch. The sample size was calculated as 144 individuals via stratified random sampling method and using Krejsi and Morgan tables. To be certain, 165 questionnaires were distributed. The data gathering tool in this research was a questionnaire. The tools included Minoteh et al.'s (2012) Work and Family Conflict Questionnaire, Shiman and Glauvin's (2011) Psychological Stress, and Minoteh's (2012) Peer Support, Supervisor Support and Work Independence, and Shiman and Glauvin's (2011) Work Pressure. The Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of all of them was above 0.7. Structural equations based on the LISREL software have been used to analyze the data. The results indicate that there is a significant and negative relationship between peer support, job independence, non-standard working hours and family-work conflict. There is a positive and significant relationship between work-family conflict and psychological stress.
