oday, organizations need managers and leaders who, in addition to having the necessary skills for leadership, are aware of the dimensions and effects of the performance of their organizations on the social environment and lead the organizations towards solving the problems and social needs of customers. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational social accountability at National Bank in Ilam province. The research methodology is correlational. The statistical population of the study included the 230 National Bank employees in Ilam province. Of these, 143 individuals were selected using Cochran formula and simple random sampling method. For gathering the data, the multi-factor leadership questionnaire (MLQ) and social accountability questionnaire (Ahmadi, 2012) were employed. The reliability of the questionnaire was calculated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The reliability coefficients for transformational leadership questionnaire and social accountability questionnaire were .919 and .915, respectively. The validity of the questionnaires was also confirmed by the elites and experts. The statistical methods used in this study included Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, correlation, one-sample t-test and Friedman ranking test. The findings are indicative of normal distribution of the variables. The results also show that there is a significant positive relationship between transformational leadership and organizational social accountability (r=.464). There is a significant positive relationship between idealized influence and social accountability (r=.418). There is a significant positive relationship between mental persuasion and social accountability (r=.351). There is a significant positive relationship between inspirational motivation and social accountability (r=.313). There is also a significant positive relationship between individual considerations and social accountability (r=.371).
