Leadership is the most important factor in ensuring the survival and continued success and Crucial role in the growth, development and progress of an organization. A leader must know itself before knowledge of others. Effective leaders are constantly seeking ways to improve themselves through knowledge and thinking in their organizations. For effective leadership over others, we must first conduct ourselves in the way effectiveness. A number of researchers have used the term leadership to improve individual performance. Leadership is a process that can help people to control their behavior. Theory self - leadership involves a number of strategies that aim of this strategies is presenting strategies to improve the effectiveness and individual performance. Strategies that can be used to change the orientation, behavior and individual cognition and enable them to be more successful. In this regard,, the aim of this paper is an overview of self - leadership theory,In addition to awareness of the concept of self - leadership, strategies and factors affecting it can be more effectively used to improve individual and organizational performance.
